THE SPRING - The beginning....
Welcome to Spring Lake Country Club
Spring Lake Country Club golfers couldn’t wait to “tee it up” this last spring. During 2013/2014, the golf course underwent an extensive renovation, including fumigation and re-seeding of every green, new bent grass for the fairways and continuing all around tender, loving care. The transformation was astounding.
“Our fairways are lush, and the greens are well-manicured and absolutely beautiful,” says Spring Lake Golf Pro George Schrague. “Our golfers enjoy the best course within over 100 miles.” In fact SLCC has seen quite a few golfers making the change from Quincy Country Club to Spring Lake due to the superior conditions of the SLCC course.
Founded in 1916, Spring Lake Country Club sits on 150 acres of land on the picturesque bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River about three miles north of Quincy. The club is duly named after the site’s 15-acre lake, which is supplied with clear water from an everlasting spring that has its origins at Lake Superior. The clubhouse was built in the early 1920s, the golf course followed in 1923, and many members have since built homes on and near the property, making Spring Lake a vibrant country club and residential community.
But, the magnificent golf course is only part of the story.
The spacious Main Dining Room seats up to 100 people and overlooks the first hole and its fountains. The bar and lounge are great places to gather after a round of golf or meet with friends for cocktails before dinner. The Lake Room, perfect for private parties, meetings and receptions, overlooks the bathing beach and lake, opens into the ballroom, and can accommodate up to 90 people.
“Our restaurant is one of the area's finest,” says Danielle Gorder, clubhouse manager. “We have an extensive menu that includes tender steaks, pastas, fresh seafood, and the club’s famous flatbread pizzas, complimented by a selection of fine wines.”
Spring Lake Country Club currently has 185 members. Single, family, junior, social-only, clubhouse and corporate memberships are available. Corporate memberships entitle the company and its staff to golf, dining, banquet facilities, swimming, tennis, and fishing. Call Denny Sinnock at 217-222-5250 for more information.
“It’s such a peaceful atmosphere here” says Spring Lake Country Club Superintendent Tad Miller, who has seen turkey, deer, and shed antlers while on the course. ”You feel like you’re out in the country with the peace and quiet and nature sightings. I’m pleased we can offer that experience for our golfers,” he said.
